Partner of the Month Hawaiian Islands Land Trust
Our partner of the month for July and August is Hawaiian Islands Land Trust (HILT)! HILT is a non-profit organization that protects land on Maui, Molokai, Oahu, Kauai, and Hawaii. They have completed over 40 projects and conserved over 18,000 acres of land. Each year over 2,000 students participate in the “Talk Story on the Land” educational program which includes guided hikes on HILT protected land. Staff members conduct regular volunteer days to engage the community and organizations like Skyline. Some of the work we have been able to participate in is invasive species removal on Maui. During volunteer projects, you not only learn about the native flora but also significant cultural sites around the area.
